About The Journey

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.                                                                                                                                            (Romans 1:20 NIV)

8400001While for me, the hand of God is clearly seen in his marvelous creation, it is sometimes harder to recognize in the modern institutional church.

The Quest:Feeling somewhat disenfranchised by 21st century western Christianity, I am in search of authentic reflections of the person and work of Jesus Christ in contemporary culture. It is my intent to undertake a journey of discovery traveling by motorcycle throughout the United States (with possible forays into Mexico and Canada) for a period of six months, engaging people from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, of all political leanings, across gender/gender identities, and spanning all ages. I will look in both traditional and non-traditional settings for anyone and anything that is a clear reflection of the Biblical Christ and His work.

Outcomes: While there are certain things I hope to find (just as Cleopas and his companion discovered as they walked and talked with the risen Christ that first Easter afternoon on their journey to Emmaus), I am going into this adventure with an open mind, seeking to be impartial and objective. I intend to write about my discoveries and experiences in a regular blog, being honest and transparent about what I discover in the world and in myself.

Ultimately, my purpose is to understand what is effective and what is not, in terms of advancing the Kingdom of God in North America, in order that I may make the most of my remaining years in service to my King.
